Our First XI are A turf premiers!
Batting first, our First XI put a score of 7-166 on the board, after losing early wickets Raymond (28) and Burton (50) were able to stabilise the innings until a wicket the over before drinks, but valuable contributions after drinks from Nathan (18) and some impressive hitting from Don Paul (23) and Devlin (17) was able to push our score towards the end. As always runs on the board in finals are always hard to chase, and that, combined with some serious impressive spells from all of our bowlers on the day led to Burwood being all out for 113 in the 30th over. The pick of the bowlers was Sean Nathan taking 4/22, helped by Tom Riley (2/29) and Tim Driscoll (2/22) our bowling was just far too good on the day. Man of the Match went to Sean Nathan for is 18 with the bat and 4/22 with the ball, clearly the best of the day.
Mazenod Cricket Club is actively encouraging all those within our community to get Vaccinated against Covid-19, as this is the best way to get our cricket season started in the foreseeable future!
Whilst we understand this is a tough time, and a personal decision, for the benefit of our community’s mental and physical well-being long term, we would encourage all of those within our community to discuss their decision with a trusted medical expert, and make the best, educated decision for themselves!
